Just to give you an idea of what a 7.3 earthquake is like – do you remember the earthquake near San Francisco in 1989 also called the world series earthquake? Well it was a 6.9 and there were sixty-three deaths caused by the earthquake. In addition, there were 3,757 injuries as a result of the earthquake. Forty-two of the deaths were people who died on the interstate.

I know that ours didn’t get much news in the states, but that doesn’t change what happened here.

In fact, there was a major hurricane (Michelle) here a few years ago and closed most of La Ceiba for more than a week, many deaths and hundreds lost their homes – why didn’t you hear about it, because something else was going on at the same time, 9-11.

A few years’ later, two major hurricanes came near the tip of Honduras, smashed Guatemala and the south of Mexico, did you know that, probably not, why – they happened a little after Katrina and Katrina got the news, even though many more died and much more devastation happened in Guatemala and Mexico. I in no way am attempting to diminish what happened on 9-11 or in Louisiana, I’m just saying – I guess it just depends on where you live and that we should remember and pray for all of God’s children and especially for those who need the Lord!

June 8, 2009 I got my answer today in the paper – when was the last time a big earthquake hit Honduras? They didn’t say what the size was but they said it has been over 150 years.

I guess that is why no one here can remember ever having been in one.

Some latest statistics on the first earthquake – the 7.3 >

There has been some good from the earthquake. Attendance at churches is up and more are thinking about His return.

A man that I know in the mountains who was always known as a drinker stopped after the big quake and has been going to church. The second time he attended he gave his life to the Lord.

Some people have been very concerned for our welfare and we appreciate that very much (blessings to you) they have asked how we are doing and so this is probably the main reason for sending the newsletter early this month and also, why I have put the earthquake in two newsletters. Some additional info on our house is > more cracks with more quakes.

In addition, I have had to put up a 4x4 beam in Celeste’s room. Picture above, it is because we were concerned that the closet would fall since it came loose and could fall when Celeste is in the room, either playing or sleeping. The closet, actually almost all of the house is made of cement blocks, so they cause a lot of damage if they fall on someone.

(it will be a computer room and a library) around the school.

Below, you can see, part of the wall is up, and the building is going up as well.

We are working on both projects at the same time. Thanks to the generosity of a special person from Texas. This is a true blessing from the Lord via this special person.

The world alethia is translated as truth in Greek. There seems to be a great lack of truth today.

There are many things that are phony in this country; the proliferation of counterfeiting, bootleg movies sold on the streets even before being presented in the theater, designer jeans that look real, but are fake and there is of course – false religion.

I have always used God´s Word to show people how to live a victorious life in Christ but also to fight heresy. There are many false doctrines that float throughout the streets here. The city has many sects and cults in and outside the church. It always appears there is new teaching that is bogus and counterfeit. However, one of the things that I learnt long ago was to always refer to Scripture, not feelings. This has been so helpful in refuting false doctrine.

During my time here I have met some mormons and some of the Jehovah witnesses. In the past year, there was an encounter with a man who was following the ways of the Jehovah witness.

The man was discussing the values of this teaching and I listened to him and then asked him some questions, he could not answer the questions and became stuck. From my memory, I brought up Bible verses to refute his false teachings. I did it in a gentle voice and remembered what C.S. Lewis said, “Negatives are rarely useful even when they are true.”

He said that he had to leave when it appeared that I knew far more of the Bible than he did.

My hope is to see him again and talk alethia. Please pray that I will see him again and the Lord

will allow me to teach him the truth.

There is a great lack of truth in government today, here and in the United States, my prayer is that we would all pray for them. May the Word of God be their guide book!
